Hi, I’m from Reddit – rather, WAS from Reddit. I used to be one of your biggest detractors, in fact I am quoted on your hate mail page. (Except I never mailed it to you, you lifted my comment from Reddit.) I’m not fat, I disagree with your opinions on weight loss, and I disagree with some of your practices – but jesus effing christ I am so sick of their superiority masturbation over there. Where I do agree with you is that people should not be shamed for being bad at things. I am so sick of them shitting on people for not being the absolute pinnacle of perfection. I’m not turning tables and becoming your biggest fan, but I have more respect for you than I used to because I too agree that the world needs more love and compassion, and not more judgmental jerks verbally jerking off about how much better they are because they never did anything that would show their human weakness. Too many people are too abused in this world and don’t cope well. They’re just piling on. (And if you happen to publish this, they’ll say you made it up, of course.)

I hope you dig in and get this done. My hat’s off to you for not condemning people for being human and having struggles.

    • Hi there,

Thanks for this. I definitely appreciate your willingness to look at the consequences of the culture over on Reddit, and when it comes to our personal beliefs and practices around weight loss and dieting I’m cool to agree to disagree. (And for the record, I don’t lift quotes from reddit, but several years ago I gave an interview and mentioned that I don’t read the reddit forums and since then nearly every day people “helpfully” send me comments from reddit that they think will be particularly hurtful, so that’s probably how your comment made its way to me.) Any way, thanks for this comment, for finding some common ground with me despite our disagreements, and for the well wishes on the IRONMAN.
