Back Out On the Open Sidewalk

I’m very happy to report that it looks as though my ankle problems may be behind me. I’ve been doing treadmill work and aquajogging since they are easier on my ankle, but I finally got back out on the road sidewalk, and I (cross my fingers, knock on wood etc.) had no ankle pain! This is a big step (sorry, couldn’t resist) to getting back into my training for the marathon portion of the IRONMAN. Yay!

I also had a swimming breakthrough. After struggling to fix my kick and feeling utterly uncoordinated, I made a good jump in my speed.

I also have big news about the bike. Last year won I Diamondback bike. It’s a great bike but it doesn’t work for me. Phyxius is a great bike, but despite a lot of Frankenfixing, he’s still not ideal. My coach found a manufacturer who was able to create a custom frame for me for roughly what we are able to sell Phyxius and the Diamondback for. In a little over a week I get the new bike.

I’m short and fat with super short legs and a long torso. I am not who bike manufacturers are thinking about when they make bikes for triathlon, and so the idea of having a bike that’s made to hold my weight and accommodate my shape is so damn exciting!

Onward and bikeward…
